Tote bags are all the rage especially with the bag tax in the DC metro area so I thought it would be fun, artistic, and ecologically friendly giveaway to celebrate our participation as exhibitors at Artomatic this year! This large tote bag features our painting “To the Surface” with an image of a jellyfish made by linocut print against one of Coco’s colorful watercolor and oil pastel backgrounds.

All you have to do to enter this tote bag giveaway is Like Sinta Jimenez on Facebook!

Thanks to my two long-time friends, Jinah and Shannon, for modeling the tote. Fun fact: Shannon used to model in Japan! ;)

Metallics were a big trend this past winter and based on the NYFW shows will be big again this coming Autumn/Winter… but I’m taking it into Spring. Wore this on a cooler sunny Spring afternoon after a cloudy morning. Contrasted textures with velveteen cut-offs shorts! Last week I transitioned my wardrobe and my daughter’s to Spring but there’s still some use of wintery pieces until the mid-Atlantic humidity sets in.

Fashion week in Tokyo started yesterday! I am STILL getting RSVPs in my email — if I’d gone I would’ve had a packed and awesome show calendar! UGHH I must got this October for the Spring shows! After declining some RSVPs I have been promised by PR to be on the guest list for the Spring shows so that’s nice… My friend Aiko will be taking my place at a couple shows so I’m glad someone will be having fun this week even if I can’t be there!

And a hello and thanks to the rash of new followers/readers I’ve gotten in the past couple weeks! :)

In the past couple weeks I got two packages from two friends, old and new, with awesome gifts!

I received a linocut print from Amsterdam-based artist Tony Coppin of a beautiful print called “Adam and Kaoru.”

I also got a gift from a friend in Tokyo of the inaugural Glossybox Japan box! It’s a special Christmas edition on top of being the first box. I will be posting a review in probably a month or so after using the products, very excited!

Speaking of Japan, I may be going to Japan at the end of the month for Tokyo Fashion Week! I registered as press a month ago on behalf of this blog and I’ve been receiving RSVPs to the shows and events! It’s exciting because if I do go to Tokyo Fashion Week it’ll be the first big event I’ll be covering exclusively for Hail to the Chic as a fashion blogger. I am waiting on a couple more invites to make the long overseas trip worth it… Got several more invites yesterday so in the next week I will be making my decision to go or not. It would be so nice to go to Japan though for fashion week as well as to see some old, dear friends. Crossing my fingers the RSVPs keep piling up!! :)

It’s been a really long time since I heard a new artist that really moved something in me… Lana del Rey is just blowing my mind. There’s so many images in her lyrics, vivid descriptions, and unique word combinations, highly poetic… and her singing is Cat Power x Nancy Sinatra gone gangsta rap. I love how she looks too, the red hair, the retro yet totally LA-girl style. I want to title every single entry from this point on until it gets tired, whether or not it makes sense, with a line of her lyrics. You good with that? Good, me too.

Let us proceed.

New Uniqlo blazer. Wanted an oversized blue blazer for a while. Love this one. Two Japanese brands at once, too, a Kitsune tee and an overly mismatched decision of black tights, a white lace skirt and the Rumi shoe from LF which OMG am I lucky I got, I thought they would’ve sold out of it months ago when it first came out at the beginning of the season! And I think I’ve got my ombre hair exactly where I want, loads of compliments on my hair at NYFW!

Here I am running around the ivy and tree-lined border of Northwest DC and Chevy Chase at sunset on my way to see my friend Susie. We went to the Freer Sackler for a Noodle and movie event featuring food by Taiwanese chef Hou Chun-Sheng and we were literally the last people to be able to get a taste of the food after standing in line for a good hour! Lucky or unlucky, still not sure about that…

Susie silly and I demure underneath DC streetlights…

Together we make one bad ass Asian fusion duo!
