Almost a month ago my daughter had her first haircut at the Yellow Balloon children’s hair salon. I had her get blunted bangs to keep her hair out of her face but I didn’t cut anything else because I love her naturally lighter tips and want to grow her hair out. I love Jane Birkin’s effortless Bohemian Parisian style and recently saw this picture which reminded me of my own doe eyed beauty!

Runway to Real Life: Going Vintage with Bow Collars a la Chloé
Ever since Stella McCartney took over the direction of Chloé in 1997, fashion’s first luxury ready to wear line has been characterized by vintage-inspired femininity with many collections drawing from 70s trends such a wide-leg trousers, bow collar blouses and favoring colors in nudes, camels and creams.
Here’s today’s coordinate totally inspired by Chloé ready to wear. The vest is a very old handmedown — definitely from the 70s from one of my older cousins! Adds some true vintage cred! I love the bird detailing on the back! Super randomly, and in contrast to their style (I think) the blouse is from American Apparel! They’ve got a couple color choices but I thought the white looked most elegant.

Gardens and Americans

Leather Jacket: Rick Owens, Dress: RVCA, Knit: Brandy Melville, Leggings: Iro, Socks and Wedges: Target
We initially were heading to Imagination Stage’s children’s theater but found out their show had sold out so last minute we went to Brookside Gardens. With a high in the 60s Saturday ended up being perfect weather to visit Brookside Gardens that had actually also been on my “kid calendar” of things to do with my girl. It was the second to last day of their Christmas train exhibit too so, actually, it all worked out. Lots of cold, winter days for spending indoors to go to Imagination Stage but not many balmy afternoons in January to play in a garden!
After the gardens, a perfect lunch in Georgetown at Bistrot Lepic, then met up with a friend at the Corcoran to visit the 30 Americans exhibit as I will be attending the Busboys and Poets 30 Americans poetry slam. Very excited about this event, I think it should be quite well-done.
I was so impressed by my little one’s behavior at the Corcoran, despite all understandable desire of a two-year old wanting to touch Nick Cave’s crazy suits or rub her hands across her first view of a Basquiat she was civilized though at times greatly impressed. Lots of “WOW MOM! WOW!” — awesome! All of it… her, the art, all awesome.
ALSO awesome from this weekend… Hunky Tim Tebow and the Broncos eliminating Rapistberger. Sure he’ll be able to take out the cad who left his girlfriend pregnant to hook up with Gisele, Tom Shady. Men of character do get their day in the sun…
Super Comfy in Chloe and My Coco Chanel
It is a mostly rare phenomenon that a cute or at least interesting outfit is super comfy. This skirt by Chloe is incredibly sheer (seems to be a combination blend of cotton and linen) so it stumped me for a bit how to wear without a slip. I really like clothes that are a bit of a challenge though, like AP Physics but for fashion… Ahh enter the oversized blouse with lace shoulders from H&M. Separately the two pieces are incredibly comfortable already, tied together with a standard issue belt by DKNY that I’ve had since high school, they are super duper comfy and the lightness of the fabrics are utterly perfect for the weight of daytime Valley heat but offer enough coverage for the cool evenings.
Despite the simplicity of the skirt, it is so pretty. Chloe is just otherworldly in its sartorial perfection.
A second take, this time trying to make a certain little girl looking at her father taking a picture laugh!

Blouse: H&M, Skirt: Chloe, Bag: F21, Sandals: Victoria's Secret Pink, Belt: DKNY, Pink coral bracelet
Now my darling daughter is fascinated with all things girly, handbags, shoes, and makeup. A couple days ago I really let her go to town instead of just allowing her to put on some lip gloss. My little beauty!!!!!
