Monthly Archives: December 2011

Everyone needs a navy blazer (and a corduroy, gray, and black one too). And for trouser-haters, such as myself, there needs to be more than a couple a wool dresses for the winter. A couple entries ago I featured my Pringle of Scotland one, this one from H&M though cheaper and nowhere as elite is still a good piece. Very comfy and I love the long sleeves.

By the way has anyone else downloaded the Snoopy game on the IPhone? It’s so freaking cute! My kid LOVES it! All the jokes in it make me laugh, especially the Christmas update which gave users the ability to make Snoopy throw snowballs at the kids — hilarious!! It’s so true to Snoopy though and some of the rewards include winning “comic strips” of the original cartoon. The kids also have thought bubbles you can click on with funny jokes. It’s a very well done game app… Surprised it took this long for Snoopy to finally come out with his own game!

It also has a cool function that lets you take pictures with Snoopy and the Peanuts gang. For example:

Opening presents on Christmas day...

Since we’re talking about kid stuff, if you have never seen the episode “Desk Wars” on PBS’ Arthur, you must!! Had my sister watch it on YouTube and we were cracking up… Wow, Christmas is over though. New Year just around the bend…

What to do with those left over Christmas ribbons??  Made mine into an impromptu satin bow tie! (Special thanks to Nordstrom giftwrapping!)

Shirt: Rugby by Ralph Lauren, Cord blazer: J.Crew, Brooch: old present from my mother

How to? Merely attach the ribbon to an oxford shirt buttoned all the way up with a mini safety pin.

Double posting today coz lots of outfit snaps being taken recently! More time now with all the Christmas events and prep no longer in the calendar. A brief respite, though I’m still teaching and writing through winter break, until January when all my schools are back to class!

Sara Mary (紗羅マリー) and Kana Oya (大屋 夏南) are two of my favorite models — they’re so happy in their poses and just so naturally beautiful. It’s cool that they’re big time social media users with Ameba blogs and Twitter accounts but due to the time it takes me to translate their entries I usually have to “binge read” when I have time rather than keeping up “in real time.” Kana is half-Brazilian, half-Japanese. Sara Mary is half-American, half-Japanese, born in Japan. Sara Mary is a frequent face in the Tokyo party circuit and is often seen photographed with the (at least, I think, the very unattractive model and dj, Elli Rose) — I think they’re good friends. She released an album a while back and the songs are alright, a little too romantic for me though. I love how there’s always a ton of pictures of Sara Mary in well-known local-Tokyo party sites. Reminds me of my own lost youth — haha! Definitely should be how one’s early 20s should be like!! Anyways, finally got some time to go through a backlog of entries and these are some candids I liked…

Bag: boutique from Main St in Santa Monica, Shirt: UO, Knit: Target, Leather jacket: a la Rick Owens, Denim: Topshop, Kicks: Converse double tongue

I bought these black Topshop jeans years ago when I went to England to visit my sister, in 2005~ish.  I never over-wore them as I don’t wear jeans very often so they’re in great condition but even so, I’ve got a great opinion of Topshop jeans as a result. The UO shirt is a marled, sweatshirt-cloth tee (nice for layering in the winter). And I’ve been wearing this black knit so often since I bought it last month, so warm and cozy… This outfit to me is like a perfect copy of something my sister would wear on her downtime and she told me she actually loved it, naturally. Anyways, wore this teaching then to dinner at the Willard, where I’ve had more than a couple would-be suitors take me on first date dinners… high style in the District! I’ve missed this city so…
