“I planned my reemergence like the Normandy invasion.” – Vanilla Sky

Things have been super busy in the past couple of weeks and looking back on my post calendar I can’t believe how little I’ve posted in this month. Lots of exciting things ahead that I’m working on and looking forward to but in the meantime a quick post to satiate until I can do a proper one…

First off… several articles by yours truly:

“Designer Spotlight: Acne” in What’s Haute in the Streets. September 26, 2011. – This article is the first in a series of three I am doing on totally IN Swedish fashion.

“Five FUN Fall Trends” in Wearever the Weather. September 26, 2011.

“Transitioning from Summer to Fall” in What’s Haute in the Streets. September 22, 2011

Secondly, my cousin JJ, co-founder and CEO of Viddy, Inc., was invited to NY Fashion Week and if you download the Viddy app on your IPhone you are automatically following him — anyways check out his uploads for some great videos of the events in NY!

Third, wow cuteeee these are my favorite pieces from Stella McCartney Kids autumn collection! I think my favorite are the leggings, so adorable!

Ida quilted denim shorts

Woody fisherman jumper

Snowflake cashmere leggings

Nina skinny cords

Marshall hiking boots

March baby mittens

And last but not least for those of you in DC, get tickets to the Utopia Film Festival!  My best friend, the infectiously bubbly and talented Kelli Herod, will have her film “Break Up Break In Break Out” in the festival!

My favorite look for these early fall days, the beautiful overcast mornings just slightly chilly, is a large roomy knit and comfy shorts. It doesn’t even feel like I’m dressed up at all, this kind of outfit is so comfy yet still chic and a bit luxurious. And REALLY, it’s so comfortable, more comfortable than wearing sweats.  I love loose light knits and light weight bottoms – shorts or skirts!  Super comfy and it gives the opportunity to layer if the weather calls for it with warm accessories and outerwear. I love the scalloped short trend started by Chloe and then copied by everyone.  My pair is from Need Supply. Rounded out with moccasins, heavy metal bangles for a change in texture, and a retro style floppy wool hat.

minnetonka moccasins, h&m stripe sweater ($10!!!!), need supply scalloped shorts, american apparel floppy hat

This morning my daughter also looked adorable in a beautiful tie neck blouse by Chloe.  I wish I could have her entire wardrobe be Stella McCartney and Chloe kids!!

Well my little baby is turning into a little girl.  Her hair which refused to grow for the first year is now growing with a reckless golden-brown abandon.  I’ve been putting it into these tiny little ponytails that she requests every morning “Bow! Bow!”  I’ve always liked how ponytails on girls with short hair looked but quite definitely this is the cutest one I’ve ever seen.

Speaking of playground fashion, wore this outfit recently.  Yes I am part of the Comme Des Garcons heart-face shirt army!

Tee: Comme Des Garcons, Skirt: J.Crew

I am now a contributing writer to What’s Haute in the Streets!  My first article will be coming up next week, Transitioning from Fall to Summer. More info here.

Well been away for awhile trying to recover from a nasty nasty cold that got all of us sick. Lots of arroz caldo, OJ, and ginger tea consumed in the past week and a half and still not completely healed. Still have a cough and congestion. Was unable to go to LA’s Fashion Night Out or really be focused enough to pay attention to NY Fashion Week and the Tokyo Girl’s Collection Show. MAYBE in the next week I can catch up. Not totally unproductive though, have a couple things cooking…. new writing gigs, I’ll post as things get published and go live and some other things too. Today I did go out briefly just to get groceries, more chicken for more soup!!

Been wanting to wear this coordinate FOREVER, inspired by Elin Kling, but it just hadn’t been cold enough. The awesome tulip skirt is by Cheap Monday (yayayy Swedish fashion) and just a perfect fit, actually IS a miniskirt making their XS totally reliable for me. Some so-called XS still come down past my knees!

Totally still have SICK FACE in this pic :(

Shirt: GAPKids, Skirt: Cheap Monday, Jacket: Heritage, Shoes: Double tongue Converse

Elin Inspiration:

I went to Stockholm several years ago and Sweden is literally full of naturally skinny, blonde women. They’re exactly what American women want to look like… but DON’T. What I loved about Sweden too is their strong culture of fairytales and children’s stories.  It’s very rich and imaginative.

Oh yes, and then this adorable girl and the heartmelting way she holds onto me.

It was oppressively hot and now much cooler and everyone in Cali keeps talking about how this erratic weather is earthquake weather which is the worst. With all the natural disasters going on everywhere and the September 11 documentaries I’m not in want of depressing anxiety inducing things. Thank god for my kid’s obsession with Arthur.  That cheerful Ziggy Marley jam has been good to hear during a mostly sullen sick week. Oh yeah and I had my first pumpkin flavored pastry, niceee, autumn’s finally back!! OH and the Redskins are playing today, god I hope they win, cheer me up DC!!
